It is transparent, and journalists from the Group\u2019s media are regularly reminded of the texts associated with it. It is the result of a collective drafting process involving management, journalists\u2019 associations and the unions representing the Group\u2019s employees. The Committee on Honesty, Independence and Pluralism of Information and Programmes (CHIPIP) was also involved in the drafting process and issued an opinion on the text. It is communicated to all journalists working for the Group\u2019s media outlets (including correspondents) and has versions translated into <a href=\"https:\/\/s.france24.com\/media\/display\/86d94aec-249a-11ee-815d-005056a90284\/charte_deontologie_journalistes.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">French<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/s.france24.com\/media\/display\/4f112492-24b1-11ee-9311-005056a90284\/Charte%20d%C3%A9ontologie_FMM_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">English<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/s.france24.com\/media\/display\/efa1dde2-24b2-11ee-9a58-005056a90284\/Charte%20deonto_FMM_AR.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arabic<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/s.france24.com\/media\/display\/e1bfb836-2488-11ee-bbf9-005056a90321\/Charte%20d%C3%A9ontologie_FMM_ES.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Spanish<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The FMM Ethics Charter is based on six principles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Professional treatment of information<\/li>\n<li>Respect for individuals and their dignity<\/li>\n<li>Coverage of acts of war, attacks and armed violence against civilians<\/li>\n<li>Independence and respect<\/li>\n<li>Precautions in digital environments<\/li>\n<li>Role of the Ombudsman<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/s.france24.com\/media\/display\/4f112492-24b1-11ee-9311-005056a90284\/Charte%20d%C3%A9ontologie_FMM_EN.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>View the Ethics Charter for Journalists<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n\n\n                    \n  <section class=\"block-wysiwyg border-hn border-hn--bg-primary\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-md-10 mx-auto\">\n         \n            <div class=\"text m-0 text-primary content wysiwyg\"><h2>Other texts governing France M\u00e9dias Monde\u2019s journalistic activities<\/h2>\n<p>In addition to the Ethics Charter, other documents set out the editorial framework for the Group\u2019s media activities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>External collaborations and partnerships<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>An internal document provides a framework for journalists\u2019 external collaborations and the rules of independence that govern the Group\u2019s partnerships.<\/p>\n<p>Journalists wishing to collaborate outside the company must first request authorisation from the management of their channel, indicating the type of collaboration envisaged, the company or institution with which the collaboration would be carried out, and its duration. External collaborations must in no way be prejudicial to France M\u00e9dias Monde, particularly in terms of independence, deontology and editorial ethics. As such, it is not permitted to host events organised by political and\/or partisan movements, to host commercial conventions or to take part in advertising activities. In addition, France M\u00e9dias Monde employees may not have any interest that might compromise their independence in a company that has a business relationship with FMM (or is likely to have such a relationship because of its activity), or be bound by a contract with such a company.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding partnerships, France M\u00e9dias Monde takes particular care to examine any partnership or sponsorship with events that could have a political and\/or partisan aim, within the framework of a partnerships committee that includes the channels\u2019 editorial managers. The Group refrains from any partnership or sponsorship of events that contradict the editorial values of its channels.<\/p>\n<p>The Group\u2019s Ethics Committee (made up of representatives from journalists\u2019 associations and editorial management) ensures that these rules are properly applied.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The rectification policy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>France M\u00e9dias Monde\u2019s editorial teams are committed to providing their audiences with the most accurate news, respecting the principles of integrity and impartiality. With this in mind, they are likely to provide clarifications and rectifications as soon as a new fact or error is brought to their attention, and they undertake to do so in complete transparency. Their audiences need to be able to understand why a correction has been made.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.francemediasmonde.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Charte-de-rectification-FMM.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read France M\u00e9dias Monde&#8217;s rectification policy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The use of artificial intelligence<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.francemediasmonde.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/12\/202512-AI-BEST-PRACTICES.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guide to good practice in the use of artificial intelligence<\/a>\u00a0has been drawn up to guard against the risks associated with the use of AI in journalistic work, and to set out the ethical principles and limits for the use of these new tools.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ethics and transparency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In accordance with the Sapin II law, an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.francemediasmonde.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/2025-02-Code-de-Conduite-Anticorruption-EN-VDEF.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">anti-corruption code of conduct<\/a> has been drawn up and sent to all employees, and has also been the subject of training for all teams.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Editorial safety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>For an international media group that covers sensitive and dangerous areas on a daily basis, the safety of journalists and editorial security are top priorities. A document details the entire editorial safety policy (safety of staff in the field, protection of sources and witnesses, etc.).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Digital environments<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A guide for journalists has been published to protect themselves against online hate and illegal digital content.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good investigative practice<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A guide to good investigative practice formalises the editorial, ethical, legal and safety rules applicable to investigations carried out by FMM journalists.<\/p>\n<p><strong>All of these texts (ethics charter, rules on external collaborations and partnerships, editorial safety, guide against online hate, anti-corruption code of conduct, etc.) are brought together in a single framework document given to all journalists and accessible on the Group\u2019s intranet platform. <\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n\n\n                    \n  <section class=\"block-wysiwyg border-hn border-hn--bg-primary\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-md-10 mx-auto\">\n         \n            <div class=\"text m-0 text-primary content wysiwyg\"><h2>France M\u00e9dias Monde certified by the Journalism Trust Initiative<\/h2>\n<article id=\"post-187\" class=\"article-page\">\n<section class=\"block-wysiwyg border-hn border-hn--bg-primary\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div class=\"col-md-10 mx-auto\">\n<div class=\"text m-0 text-primary content wysiwyg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1444 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.francemediasmonde.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/06\/JTI-certified.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"170\" \/>France M\u00e9dias Monde has achieved the Journalism Trust Initiative certification (JTI), securing a perfect score of 100% in the overall rating. This certification, developed as an international ISO professional standard, is an initiative by Reporters Without Borders aimed at promoting free and independent information globally. It evaluates journalism based on criteria that assess editorial reliability, adherence to ethical and journalistic principles, and respect for journalistic ethics.<\/p>\n<p>The certification process involves a rigorous 200-question test covering various aspects such as editorial organization (including ethics, editorial independence, protection of sources, accuracy, and transparency), funding sources, independence of governance and legal structure, and social management practices. All of France M\u00e9dias Monde\u2019s responses to this evaluation are publicly available on the JTI platform (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jti-app.com\/report\/VJkYaMj4BNLv3dl1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jti-app.com<\/a>), in the form of a transparency report. This report has undergone external scrutiny by an independent third-party organization, Deloitte, which verified the accuracy of the report and confirmed France M\u00e9dias Monde\u2019s compliance with JTI\u2019s ethical and deontological standards.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<\/article>\n<\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n\n\n          <section class=\"block-hero-text bg-trame\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"col-md-9 offset-md-1\">\n        \n        \n        \t<h2 class=\"field-titre title m-0 Titre-Sans-XXL text-grey000\">\n\t\tInternal organisation\n\t<\/h2>\n\n          <div class=\"text baseline m-0 Text-Sans-M text-grey000\">An internal organisation dedicated to ethics<\/div>\n\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n\n\n\n\n                    \n  <section class=\"block-wysiwyg border-hn border-hn--bg-primary\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-md-10 mx-auto\">\n         \n            <div class=\"text m-0 text-primary content wysiwyg\"><h2>The Ethics Committee<\/h2>\n<p>An Ethics Committee brings together the journalists\u2019 societies (SDJ), the management of each media outlet and France M\u00e9dias Monde\u2019s Ombudsman with an equal representation of men and women. At the request of the Journalists\u2019 societies, the Group\u2019s CEO chairs this body. It provides an opportunity to discuss ethical issues at least twice a year and as often as necessary, and to relate the general rules to the most complex practical cases. This committee discusses every draft text or new rule relating to journalistic ethics.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n        <\/div>\n      <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n  <\/section>\n\n\n                    \n  <section class=\"block-wysiwyg border-hn border-hn--bg-primary\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n      <div class=\"row\">\n        <div class=\"col-md-10 mx-auto\">\n         \n            <div class=\"text m-0 text-primary content wysiwyg\"><h2>The Committee on Honesty, Independence and Pluralism of Information and Programmes (CHIPIP)<\/h2>\n<p>The Committee on Honesty, Independence and Pluralism of Information and Programmes (CHIPIP) was set up in 2017 at France M\u00e9dias Monde (in accordance with the law of 14 November 2016 aimed at strengthening the freedom, independence and pluralism of the media).\u00a0Its members are appointed for a three-year term by the members of FMM Administrative Board (the State representatives do not take part in this vote).<\/p>\n<p>The CHIPIP is responsible for contributing to compliance with the principles of honesty, independence and pluralism of news and the programmes recalled in the Ethics Charter. France M\u00e9dias Monde listeners, viewers and Internet users may refer any question falling within its remit to this committee. The committee may, on its own initiative, initiate work on topical issues or issues of particular importance in terms of honesty, independence and pluralism. The Ombudsman\u2019s main task is to deal with correspondence from the public. He thus contributes to the establishment of good relations between the public and the France M\u00e9dias Monde. He gathers any comments, complaints, criticisms or claims concerning the content broadcast by France M\u00e9dias Monde and is responsible for responding to them along with the managing editors and journalists concerned.
