Financing

A global public service broadcasting group financed by French citizens

France Médias Monde is financed by the allocation of a fraction of the proceeds from value added tax (VAT). This method of financing accounts for 95% of FMM’s total annual budget.

The rest of its budget comes from:

External funding to develop new projects from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD) Group to strengthen RFI’s African languages through the ‘Afri’Kibaaru’ project; from the French Official Development Assistance (programme 209) for the development of new local projects abroad; and from the European Union (development of ENTR and InfoMigrants). These external resources make up around 3% of FMM’s total budget.

Rigorous management

As a public service company, France Médias Monde contributes to the common effort to control public spending.

France Médias Monde’s governance bodies, particularly the Audit Committee and the Administrative Board, closely monitor this policy of rigorous management.
