Africa told by its youth, for the youth
ZOA’s mission is to tell Africa’s story through its young people, focusing on the themes that drive them to act and react, through authentic, accessible, and positive narratives. ZOA aims to amplify the voices of these young people. To be a positive media outlet, making reliable, local information more accessible, with a relaxed yet rigorous tone.
ZOA offers content that speaks directly to young Africans: culture, sports, society, health, entrepreneurship, diaspora, heritage; in diverse formats such as interviews, testimonials, explainers, and analyses—designed for social media to inform, inspire, and connect.
A young, diverse, and committed editorial team
At ZOA, Africa’s stories are told by those who live them every day. Based in Dakar, the newsroom brings together 10 journalists from five different countries, led by Editor-in-Chief Kaourou Magassa. The team is supported by a network of correspondents across 11 African countries, ensuring authentic storytelling from the ground—from Dakar to Kinshasa; from Abidjan to Casablanca.
At the heart of the France Médias Monde Africa Hub in Dakar
As part of France Médias Monde’s African Hub in Dakar — alongside RFI’s Mandinka and Fulfulde newsrooms — ZOA benefits from strong local roots and the expertise of RFI and France 24 teams. This collaboration provides access to cutting-edge technical facilities and encourages valuable skill-sharing and knowledge exchange with journalists from across the continent.
