Diversity and inclusion

Diversity and inclusion at the heart of France Médias Monde’s identity

RFI, France 24 and Monte Carlo Doualiya are committed to promoting diversity and inclusion as fundamental values of their editorial line.

Diversity at the heart of France Médias Monde’s DNA

Diversity is an integral part of the Group’s identity, with over 60 nationalities represented among its journalists. Its three media outlets are committed to opening up their channels to everyone, in particular through societal, debate, cultural and interactive programmes: ‘Pas2Quartier and ‘Hors champ’ on France 24; ‘Légendes urbaineson RFI and France 24; ‘En sol majeur’,8 milliards de voisinsand ‘Alors on dit quoion RFI; ‘Magazine société and ‘L’air du temps on MCD, etc. In France, FMM’s media outlets, as flag bearers of republican values and principles, also contribute to social cohesion, including in foreign languages as vectors of integration.

RFI, France 24 and MCD work in all their languages to promote respect for human rights and the fight against all forms of discrimination in all regions of the world, including racism, anti-semitism, xenophobia and anti-LGBT+ acts.

Since 2018, France Médias Monde has been a signatory to an annual letter of commitment on diversity, including the fight against all forms of discrimination. This letter formalises the Group’s commitments, both in terms of editorial and internal policy (HR in particular). A report is submitted to ARCOM (the French broadcasting regulator) each year.

Campaigning for the representation of disability on the airwaves

Aware of their major role in changing the way people look at disability, France Médias Monde’s three media outlets work to present disability in an inclusive way, through dedicated programmes, reports and interviews, highlighting inspiring individual stories. This coverage of disability echoes the commitments of the Charter on the Representation of Disabled People and Disability in Broadcasting, to which France Médias Monde has been a signatory since 2019. Nearly 400 disability-related stories and programmes were offered in 2024 on the French-language channels of RFI and France 24. The Group’s media outlets are also working to make their offerings more accessible, such as France 24, which offers 4 subtitled news programmes every day. France Médias Monde is also committed to promoting and covering para sport.

Within the organisation, an HR policy promoting diversity and inclusion

Inclusion is at the heart of all France Médias Monde’s activities, through a global and ambitious corporate strategy initiated several years ago. As a public service company, diversity is a founding value that guides all our actions. The Group’s HR policy includes specific provisions on diversity, in terms of age, origin and disability.

France Médias Monde has a corporate agreement on disability and inclusion which has been renewed for the 2023-2025 period, with reinforced commitments in favour of inclusive recruitment and keeping disabled workers in employment. Internal communication and awareness-raising initiatives are regularly organised around disability. The Group is also developing its use of the sheltered and supported sector, in particular as part of its responsible purchasing policy.

This particular focus on disability is part of a wider policy to promote diversity in all its forms, and in particular actions to promote equal opportunities. FMM is continuing its awareness-raising initiatives and partnerships with players committed to diversity and inclusion (for example with ‘La Chance pour la Diversité dans les médias’, an organisation that prepares candidates for journalism exams, or through commitments within the ‘Fondation Engagement Médias pour les Jeunes’, of which FMM is a founding member, etc.).

France Médias Monde is also involved in the fight against discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. By pursuing its diversity policy and developing an inclusive environment within the Group, France Médias Monde is helping to combat stereotypes and change attitudes. In 2023, the Group joined the association ‘L’Autre Cercle.

France Médias Monde’s HR policy advocates inclusive management that respects individual differences, as well as quality of life for everyone at work. Diversity permeates all of FMM’s activities and involves all our employees.
