Supporting talent

An active policy of supporting young talent around the world

Throughout the year, France Médias Monde strives to discover and promote new talent in all fields: music, theatre, literature, comedy and sports. This support for young talent around the world is embodied in an active policy of scholarships and prizes.

The Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship, created in 2014 by France Médias Monde after the murders of the two RFI reporters in northern Mali, rewards two young prize-winners (one journalist, one technician) from a French-speaking African country each year. They benefit from an immersive training session in Paris at RFI, INA (for the technician) and the Sciences Po Paris School of Journalism (for the journalist).

The Prix Découvertes RFI, created in 1981, promotes and supports new musical talent from the African continent. It is organised in partnership with the Institut français and the International Organisation of La Francophonie).

The Prix RFI Théâtre, awarded as part of the ‘Les Francophonies — Des écritures à la scène’ festival, aims to promote the wealth of contemporary French-language drama from the South.

The Prix Voix d’Afrique, awarded in partnership with JC Lattès and the Cité internationale des arts, showcases new talent in French-language African fiction.

The Challenge App Afrique RFI-France 24, open to all Africans and young entrepreneurs on the continent, rewards digital innovations in the public interest (education, environment, etc.)

Many other prizes and awards are part of this active policy of supporting young talent around the world: in comedy with the Prix Talents du Rire, in music with the Prix RFI Instrumental, in journalism with the Lescaut Scholarship, in football with the Prix Marc-Vivien Foé RFI-France 24, in literature with the RFI and AUF Prix des Jeunes Écritures, and in the environment with the ePOP competition organised by RFI Planète Radio.
